Frequetly Asked Question
In our opinion there is no such thing as a normal funeral. Each and every funeral is individual to the family concerned. It is up to that family to pay their last respects and say their farewell in the manner that is most suitable for them.
The following information is created to help answer questions we are often asked about thefuneral and services associated with it:
When a funeral is a cremation, two doctors must attend and certify death. A doctor must be the doctor who attended the deceased during their last illness. This doctor must not be related to the first doctor either through family or practice. For this service, the doctor makes a separate charge, which we, the Funeral Directors usually pay on behalf of the deceased’s family

- You can place them in a Garden of Remembrance, depending on the Crematorium or Cemetery you may now know where they specifically are - and you cannot place a headstone with them.
- You may wish to purchase a grave just for the purpose of interring the cremated remains. This allows you to have a headstone and have other members of the family buried in there in the future. You can place up to 6 sets of ashes per full bodied grave.

Depending on whether a burial of ashes has taken place the gravestone may be placed on right away. If the grave is “earth” rather then “bricked” then the grave will take six months or more before the ground has settled to take the weight of a headstone and to allow for the headstone to be secured by being anchored in for stability. If the grave is “bricked” inside, then is does not take long. If you have purchased a Raft plot or grave, the headstone can be placed immediately.
If you have any further questions please contact us
If a headstone is already present on a grave that is intended for use, this will need to be removed for the burial service. We can organise this service for you with a stone mason.
